I talked about this in a thread on here, and I luckily remembered the names of the video. While, I am not a huge Theory fan, this is one of the few videos that is good, and Gaijin's is on point about Anime and fan servicing.

This is why you have to follow shows/series where the creative team isn't easily influenced by the fans. People will always want something different in a story and given how vocal people can get on Twitter these days over the stupedest things, I guess it can be hard for creative teams to ignore it but they have to.

That is easier said then done, honestly, and the thing is they know that the ones who would get pissy at the changes and everything as the ones who spend the most money are said product, while the fans who wouldn't care or would have minor complaints are just casual buyers of the product. That is why Anime, for example, tends to really focus on the extreme Otakus as they, the extreme Otakus, are willing to spend a lot of money that caters to them in a way.

This is why Goku is still Goku. They follow the money and they know kids are most likely to get their parents to spend the most on toys and merch. While some adult fans do collect things and spend a lot of money on merch, it is the kids they want to target or at least the younger viewers which are far more likely to blow half a paycheck on things they don't need.

Pretty much on point, and not only that, but adults understand advertisements and such as well as the sad fact that at the end of the Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, and so on is about making money.

I get that it is a business and they need to make their money but I think things have gotten to carried away with it for certain franchises.

I agree and one of them, I think, that got carried away was/is Rick and Morty
I don't think they anticipated it blowing up like it did. I enjoy the show but some of the fans are just too much and then you have other outlets and references in other shows mentioning the show in cringy ways.

I think they knew it would be big, but I don't think they knew that the fanbase, a minority really but still, would become as cringy as they are

The whole sauce thing with McD's is what made people really get put off by the show. That was embarrassing.

Even the creators of the show were embarrassed by that and said on Twitter if you did things like that then you aren't a "true" fan of the show...which is a nice way of saying "You guys are f-ing stupid"

Doing it at home to be stupid is one thing but a public place... The kid that was jumping all over and rolling on the floor should have been arrested.

It was the one time I was hoping for someone to be tasered, but nope. Yeah, I agree at home is fine, but in public...come on man
