How would your fighterz sequel look?
Don't have much more Roster plans other than what we've discussed. I think I might put Hearts in it, haven't seen much of Heroes but he does seem to be one of the more interesting Dragon Ball villains. Majin Ozotto might be adding because I like his design & obscure character picks. Omega Shenron & Uub too maybe. I also might put (blonde) Lunch in it for lulz.
One thing I'd 100% do is give Android 18 her
cowgirl outfit as an alternate. It's her best drip in all of Dragon Ball and the fact that it's never been featured in any of the games (afaik) is very annoying.
But beyond that, they man thing I want I'd focused on the single player modes. I've played a bit online, but it's not my favourite thing to do in a fighting game and with the framework of the first game, that's already going to be solid. I have two mode ideas that would raise the single player value a lot.
First, a story mode that isn't a repetitive slog that makes you redo the same plot three times over and doesn't weirdly give the player a role in the plot. I don't really want it to be a retread of older plots either, that's part of why I'd bring in Hearts or Ozotto, since you could make an original plot with them. Anyway, I'd basically make it play out like Budokai 2's. FighterZ story had board maps you'd navigate to fight opponents so it's a logical evolution.
In FighterZ's version, there was nothing to do but go to an enemy and fight them, it's basically a menu of opponents with extra steps. In Budokai 2, you could have multiple heroes on the board to move around, all the villains would move, the story could play out slightly differently depending on how you maneuvered on the board, there were stat buffs to be found around the board, you could search for the Dragon Balls. I loved it, bring that type of gameplay structure back for FighterZ 2.
Secondly, I want a History Mode. History Mode would be most comparable to Galaxy Mode from Raging Blast 2, in that every character would have their own mini-campaigns. Basically each character would have a set of progressively harder matches to complete, maybe with some mission attached them. They could just use quick text to explain the purpose of the match. There'd be no set amount of fights for anyone's history route, it'd just be the history of their battles in DB canon, with each of them getting progressively harder (the ones with fewer fights would just be harder).
For example, looking at your roster, Kid Goku's history route would be vs. Yamcha -> vs. Roshi -> vs. Tao -> vs. Krillin -> vs. Tien -> & ending with vs. King Piccolo. Beating someone's history route would either unlock a special alternate costume (like best drip cowgirl outfight for 18) or a special colour palette. This mode would add a lot more content to the offline experience, and since it rewards the player, it incentivizing people to try out all the characters.
