I'd like to get everyone's thoughts and ideas on the matter. It's a personal pet peeve of mine that in current Dragon Ball they play Super Saiyan 4 as a second fiddle to Super Saiyan Blue. Don't get me wrong me, I thoroughly enjoy the concept of god ki and expanding the known universe into a multiverse of possibilities, but Super Saiyan 4 needs its place in all of it. It earned that place all the way back in 1996 during Dragon Ball GT with its unique style and depiction of unbridled power. So help me out friends. How do we make Super Saiyan 4 Great Again?!

They could make SS4 a "primal" transformation. Like it can be more about raw power rather than godly strength like blue. Since it is a primal form, they can also expand on it from there. Have a standard form and then having it go to a "super saiyan" form similar to Baby in GT. I don't think they can call it SS4 though, maybe call it something like saiyan primal, then super saiyan primal, and so on.

My opinion is that it is at least as strong as Super Saiyan Blue as showcased by Super Dragon Ball Heroes. All the power with none of the drawbacks like the stamina drain that Blue suffers from.

Not a fan of the design I take it?
To be honest, my bias toward anything GT does tend to get in the way...but really what bothers me about SSJ4 is how it was achieved. Both Goku and Vegeta gained this transformation in a way I see that was so cheap that it does not merit being considered in canon.

I think if they were to redo it, it would have to be more in-depth. Vegeta already had control over his ape form and we see that early on in DBZ. I think not using the ape at all at this point would be ideal. I like the design of SS4 a lot but changing the fur color and making obtainable another way would have made it better. Most people don't even care to consider it a valid transformation for Goku unrelated to it being canon or not simply because GT in and of itself was not written well.

Yeah, I think transformations have been getting lazy. Even Super Saiyan God...and they really didn't go into much detail with Super Saiyan Blue other than Saiyans absorbed the power into their cells.

You'd think with this in mind it would have been much easier for him.

The ape part doesn't bother me...just how Goku's tail hole was pulled until it "grew" back and then how Bulma created the Bluntz waves device for Vegeta. SO cheap.

Definitely.
GT in and of itself was not written well
It felt nothing like any other Dragon Ball series: Rushed. Lazy. Mostly about only 3 characters. A real disappointment in my eyes.

I think if it was done through training or a “natural” in need of power up instead of what made it silly in GT, it could become great again and have its well deserved place in the sun.
