Investigators in Catawab County, North Carolina raided a known drugs location where they uncovered cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana, as well as $2,300 in cash and 20 guns. Among those guns they discovered one modified Glock 19 pistol that had been modified with a 50 round magazine and a paint job to make it resemble a toy Nerf gun, presumably to attempt to fool authorities into thinking it was fake. One 35 year-old was arrested and charged with felony possession charges for the cocaine and mushrooms and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Guns modified to resemble toy guns are not illegal (article does not mention if the guns were legally purchased, however), though are highly concerning to law enforcement as children could find them and use them thinking they were the toys they look like.
Silly thing to do, honestly, just takes one kid to mistake it for a toy and you've got yourself a tragedy on your hands. The things people do these days...
