A man has been arrested after walking into a Tempe, Arizona Red Robin restaurant and firing a bb gun at a glass window and a balloon in the establishment before aiming it at employees who attempted to confront him. Police were called immediately and the restaurant was evacuated while the man was detained and kept inside of the establishment until police arrested him and took him to be booked into jail.

This is a stupid thing to do at the best of times, but to do this while people are tense about covid, while people are tense about the protests and the BLM movement going on, while people are tense towards the wildfires raging on throughout the state, and while people are tense towards so many other things...it just reeks of ignorance and stupidity. Glad it was only a bb gun!

Well, it must be crazy season because here's another one:

A man shot and killed a clerk at a 7-eleven after an alleged altercation. The suspect says he shot the clerk after a brick was thrown at him, as the confrontation grew heated. The suspect not only stayed on scene but was the one who called 911. He has been arrested and charged with murder, identified as 25 year-old Tony Blunk.

...what? You shot someone over an altercation? Whether the brick throwing claim is accurate or not, you don't retaliate in an argument by shooting someone. Walk away. Now you've taken a life and given your own away at 25 because you couldn't walk away...stupidity.

Agreed. I'm all for people owning guns if that's what they want, but there has to be a more effective way of screening out the idiots. Granted, I'm sure they'll still find a way of acquiring a gun anyway, but if it's made more difficult to obtain...maybe, just maybe we'll see fewer idiots owning them?

You should need a license to own a gun and you should have to renew said license every 5 years until you are 50 years old by taking a mental health evaluation test.

Slippery slope to entrust the gov't with your constitutional right to keep and bear arms. It really does seem that that 2nd amendment is the "Yeah, but...." in the bill of rights and it's sad to see. It protects your right to everything else. Don't think so? Come to Canada where you can be dragged in front of a human rights tribunal for making jokes that are deemed defamatory against another race. That's as performing as a comedian as well btw.

Fair point. I don't know if there is a solution for this where the right stays intact completely. Not everyone takes owning a gun seriously or uses one responsibly and I think this will always be the case. Kind of like alcohol. It is legal and most people don't abuse it but enough people do to make it an issue for everyone else. Though to be fair here, I think alcohol tends to do more damage longterm.
