Seems like he probably just snapped but was a long time coming. Scary when this happens to people though.
Agreed, definitely seems he's just lost the plot, but man, when they lose it in Norway, they do it in interesting ways!

It is a bit odd that he wasn't stopped sooner. Not like he's Legolas sniping Uruks from atop a keep.
When Norwegians snap they really get creative. Remember that right-winger dude who set up the IEDs as a distraction and then went after the children of left leaning gov't officials? Don't fuck with Norway!
Anders Behring Breivik, absolute nutter. This one was apparently a Danewegian, mix of both...So half suicidal prince, half asleep.
Even without sufficient details on what the other weapons were, you have to remember with arrows you have both a piercing weapon and a close range stabbing weapon. If he's firing into a crowded enclosed area he doesn't have to be a good shot, just reasonably fast.
I'm an amateur, and I have a 36lb recurve bow (which is on the lighter end). With a field tip arrow (ie not especially sharp and pointy) the shaft will go halfway through a several layers of foam and cardboard before stopping. Flesh is nothing, especially when you're talking compound.
Oh yeah, I've seen those things penetrating fairly thick targets, so I agree they can do some serious damage.
Arrows are like little mini spears. They pierce and penetrate tissue very deeply. I've bow hunted a good bit and most deer that I strike broadside are thru and thru hits. Even after hitting dense tissue and multiple organs inbetween.
