We all know Dragon Ball heavily inspires Shonen Manga authors. But to what extent? Let's discuss this together.

Oda and Kishimoto were both big fans of Dragon Ball, and it shows because Luffy and Naruto are very similar to Goku in personality, and the stories of One Piece and Naruto are also similar to the story of Dragon Ball.

Kubo is also a fan of Dragon Ball, but to a lesser extent. Both Ichigo and Bleach don't share as many similarities as Luffy/Naruto and One Piece/Naruto do to Goku and Dragon Ball respectively.

I think it's also worth mentioning from a battle system perspective, Nanatsu No Taizai/Seven Deadly Sins is probably the closest thing to a successor to Dragon Ball.

Do any of you have anything else to add?

I can see a lot of shared inspiration across the board when I really go looking for it. A lot of older animes like Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z heavily influenced and inspired many artists in Japan as well as in America.

There's something else I also noticed... Meliodas, Elizabeth, and Hawk from Seven Deadly Sins remind me of Goku, Bulma, and Oolong. And all three travel together in their first respective arcs.

They say that InuYasha is basically a more feminine Dragon Ball. The Manga started in 1996 but ended in 2008, and spanned up to 56 volumes. I just bought the whole series not too long ago and I'm thinking of reading it all very soon.

I never watched it but my niece did and from what I remember, I can see this being the case.
