The first season was great. I enjoyed it. Skipping the second season. As far as I am concerned, it was a short series with one season and the rest of it doesn't exist.
A non stupid writer would have learned from their mistakes and changed course from the game.
Then again they gotta keep with "The Message".
The dude that took full control of the second game is a political douche bag. Like you can tell from the first game he worked on it with two other people and the second one he took the lead. He sucks at story telling and pushed a bunch of political crap dealing with Israel (not even joking) in part 2 along with unnecessary "messaging".
Like fine, if you want to make games for 2% of the player base, knock your socks off but don't cry when most people find it to be uninteresting or complete shite.
The Last of Us Part 1 is one of my favorite games ever. I was so excited when Part 2 came out. Then the thing happened. And I was already not having fun because of how they changed up some of the controls. Story-wise it was just bad. Completely unhinged. I get what they were trying to accomplish with the shock factor early on, but it totally changed the mood of the game. Bad decision, IMO.
I didn't play the games but I knew of the story from the first one and actually was going to play it when I heard part 2 was coming out but then I heard what happened and decided to not even bother. The concept they built up with the first part of the story was raw and real and then part 2... it just felt so far removed from logic and reality that I was convinced two different studios must have made these games. It came off like poorly written fanfic.
The fact that they have released part 2 how many times shows you how big of a failure it was.
The story itself wasn't good but they managed to make the story even worse in the show. Pedro is a great actor but even people said he wasn't the best pick for Joel. I liked the first season because of the story and thought Bella did fine with what she was given but I am not watching any more seasons cause I know the story is terrible moving forward.
I would still recommend playing Part 1. The ending feels like there is enough closure where you don't have to play the second one. I've replayed it a decent amount of times I like it so much.
