Fallout, DOOM, Wolfenstein, and more are now properties of Microsoft's gaming division. I personal have mixed feelings about this, but maybe it means we can get a better Fallout game in the future.

Read about this earlier today. I think it could be a good thing with the additional $$ to hopefully go towards resources so they CAN put out better games.

I'm slightly optimistic, because Microsoft is moving away from 'exclusives' these days, and more towards distributing their games over as many platforms as possible, so...maybe this just means better Elder Scrolls, Doom and so on games? Who knows, I'm going to keep open minded since MS haven't really been M$ in recent years, so there's a chance this is good news.

yeah, I don't really think console wars is a thing anymore and Microsoft has taken great strides, as you say, to distribute their games over multiple platforms. So think this is generally a good decision. In my view, Microsoft is handling gaming way better than they handle their operating systems.

Totally agreed there, the Xbox/gaming division is a completely different animal from their OS development. They seem to have a focus on how to actually make themselves better, rather than just expecting to be number one and pushing out whatever because everyone's going to use it anyway. I'm glad we still have consoles, but there's no question consoles are slowly but surely fading away.
