Notable differences between the anime and manga

I'm going to be honest, I've never read the manga, so debating things can be frustrating at times.

I could write out a long logically sound argument, only for it to be wrong simply due to differences in the anime from the manga.

Over the years and even some recently, I've learned quite a few of these, like

-Krillin cutting Buu in half didn't happen
-Krillin ramming Cell didn't happen
-Underworld Tournament arc was entirely filler
-Goku was "Over 8,000", not 9,000.

So can we all compile a list of all of these moments?

Tenshinhan really did hold Cell down in the Manga as well with the Shin Kikoho. He also deflected Boo's Ki Blast with his Shin Kikoho in the Manga (but he didn't aim his Shin Kikoho at Boo).

- Goku and Vegeta never fought Gohan-Boo
- Goku never fought Kid Boo with Super Saiyan 2 (he jumped right to Super Saiyan 3)
- Goku and Vegeta never fought Gotenks, Piccolo, and Gohan inside Boo's head
- Goku never showed the kids Super Saiyan 3 on the Lookout
- Popo never fought Goten and Trunks on the Lookout
- Mighty Mask (as the Super Saiyan kids) never fought Android 18. She revealed their identities very shortly after they transformed
- Most of the Goku vs. Majin Vegeta fight was filler
- Kid Boo teleporting to Other World was filler, as was any scene of Yamcha and Krillin there
- Kid Boo destroying a bunch of planets was filler
- All the Base Saiyan vs. Dabura fights were filler
- Most of the Cell Jr. fight was filler, especially one of them catching Vegeta's Final Flash
- Krillin hurting SSJ Goku with a rock before the Cell Games is complete filler

I could go on but I need to fill my gut like a true SAIYAN WARRIORRRRR!

So now that I've read 4 volumes, I've definitely realized the differences. The whole fight scene between Goku and Giran in the restaurant at the World Tournament didn't happen. The incident with the big plate of chicken didn't happen. It was actually as if Giran wasn't the bad guy the anime made him out to be.

Anime filler really changed a lot of things in the series, and broke Toriyama's excellent writting tons of times.
If you pay attention to the details, you'll see a very different Goku in the manga compared to the one in the anime as well (even in Z), and from the saiyan saga onwards the fights become much deeper and less asspully than in the beginning of the series where they resembled more what you find in most other shounens.

The DB manga is an obligatory read.

I just finished the part where Goku meets Kami-sama for the first time and trains there. Wow...that was short in the manga. No Goku doll. No time room. Just a few breathing tips and then meditation.

It’s one of those instances where we’re shown the feats he can perform after the fact. So, we’re to infer the training must have been difficult yet very productive for him.

And I prefer it that way. Now I'm wondering if the Time Room, or "Hyperbolic Time Chamber", is ever featured in the manga, particularly around the time of the Cell Saga and Buu Saga, and if so, did Toriyama then borrow the idea from the anime? (Don't tell me, I wanna read and find out :D )

Ok, so they did go to the time chamber...and even mentioned that Goku went there as a kid. Intredasting...

End of the Cell Games...dang, the feel good moments that the anime added with the other Z Fighters helping Gohan and then finally Vegeta...all never happened, with exception to Vegeta giving one good blast. I did like the feel-good moments in the anime, however, this made Gohan seem even stronger because it was only one little distraction blast from Vegeta and then Gohan let it all rip.

Exactly and that's why I like the manga version better because SSJ2 Gohan is overwhelmingly more powerful than Super Perfect Cell and it shows. The little distraction from Vegeta just gave Gohan enough time to get his thoughts together and get that confidence boost from Goku. He never needed any help from the other Z fighters because he had the power all along. Gohan in the manga is an absolute monster in terms of power level.

I've been very, very, pleased with the manga compared to the anime. Definitely the way to go if you're a DB fan.
