Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, who has been at Microsoft since he joined as an intern in 1988 and with Xbox since the software giant launched its first console in 2001, is retiring, sources familiar with the matter who are not authorized to speak publicly confirmed to IGN. Spencer’s retirement is effective on Monday, February 23. Meanwhile, Xbox President Sarah Bond, long thought by many both inside and outside of Microsoft to be Spencer’s heir apparent, has resigned. The new CEO of Microsoft Gaming will be Asha Sharma, currently the President of Microsoft’s CoreAI product. Finally, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty is being promoted to Chief Content Officer and will work closely with Sharma.

I am shocked it took them this long to suggest a retirement. Cause you know that is what this is. Rather than firing him.

This is even better than when Doug Bowser retired from Nintendo, IMO.
Trouble is, the woman taking over has only been with the company 2 years and is coming from their AI department. So it might end up hurting the company's gaming sector even more. We will have to wait and see. Phil has cost them so much money though and ruined franchises like Halo.

I think they are going to end up releasing a gaming PC over a console. it will probably have some special Windows whatever number they are on designed to work minimally while maximizing the gaming end. I won't be buying it. I won't be buying anything Xbox anymore.

I would say I regret buying my Series S but I have had a lot of fun playing games with Jay on it and it wasn't terribly expensive... But I am moving back to a gaming PC. I am good on buying consoles.
