Dragon Ball Z Piccolo As Goku's Rival

I always thought he was underrated in this regard. I like Goku's intense rivalry with Vegeta, but I also like Piccolo's friendly rivalry with Goku in the late Freeza Saga and the Android Saga/Early Cell Saga, when he helps Goku stall against Freeza, and when he trains with Goku and Gohan in preparation for the Androids. What do you guys think about Goku's rivalry with Piccolo?

Piccolo made Goku better in many regards and fathered one of his children in his absence. There is a reason Piccolo is a fan favorite among older fans.

I think he had a good story of growth and his rivalry with Goku humored me because Piccolo was so much younger yet played the big brother role in a lot of sagas.

Yamcha
Kuririn
Tien
Piccolo
Vegeta
Freeza???
I think thats all of them!
 
Yamcha, Krillin, and Tenshinhan were all Goku's rivals in Part I. Piccolo was Goku's rival until the Cell Games. Vegeta was Goku's rival until the Kid Boo fight, where he finally admits inferiority to Goku.

Akira doesn't care anyone beside Goku and Vegeta. I think Hit and Jiren would suffer the same fate like Piccolo. However looks like Piccolo would be 1 of the main character of Dragon Ball new movie. Maybe he would show how strong he's if has major role in fighting the main antagonist of the movie by unlocking new form.

It'd be nice if they did give him a new form or a boost somehow, he's not Goku or Vegeta, and you're right, they're the only two that seem to be allowed to do anything useful anymore, but he should have his role increased again, he was a good fighter for so many sagas.
