Dragon Ball GT Piccolo's death in GT

It was so sudden, I was so confused and then the next thing you know piccolo's dead. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good scene and I loved it, but SOME build-up or warning would have been nice.

I remember randomly catching this episode after giving up on watching the Baby Saga all the way through. Hated it lol. I suppose I can appreciate the intent of the scene but it's like, the only thing you could think to do with Piccolo is to kill him off? I've looked into this on the wiki, this is it, Piccolo only exists in GT to die. At least in the Buu Saga he was a mentor, he stalled Super Buu, and he got hard when spat on.

Well, he also freed Goku from hell.

Well, he also freed Goku from hell.

I'll rephrase my statement from "Piccolo only exists in GT to die" to "Piccolo only exists in GT to die so he could free Goku later". I guess it's nice that he didn't completely disappear after dying, but when his only two worthwhile moments in the entire series are rooted in him dying/being dead, it feels like he was only there to die.

I actually caught the episode where Piccolo saved Goku from Hell too, it was like the next one I caught after him dying. I think Goku was fighting Frieza & Cell. And to be honest, the thought that they only killed Piccolo off because they needed someone to save Goku from Hell almost makes it worse imo, and it feels like that might be the reason.

The dub made it weird at the start but very emotional at the end, but I prefer the original Japanese version where he admires how Gohan has grown to the point of being able to severely hurt him with his Kamehameha

I never saw the Japanese version of GT, only the dub but I have a feeling the parts that annoyed me in GT would be less annoying.

Oh yes, the Funi GT dub is some of the worst dubbing they ever did. Can't recommend the original version enough.
I completly agree the English Version sucks! Especialy Pan she went from Bulma to Satan!
I just now realized the irony of that!
