So it turns out AI is going to ruin gaming but not in the way everyone predicted. They assumed it would be job loss, replacement, lower-quality games, rinse and repeat but it seems to actually be coming down to a hardware issue. RAM is up 500% in price and it is still going up and this is all down to people - too many people - using AI. This isn't just going to make video games more expensive either. Remember that Xbox Handheld - Ally? Well those prices are expected to hit upward of $1,500 for the X version because of RAM costs. Not only that but computers, phones, and basically anything that requires RAM is going to get more expensive and continue to rise.
Apparently the prices are not expected to even start to come back down until well into 2027. This means any future consoles (PS6 for example) will end up costing much more. Companies working on games currently will likely end up hiking up the prices since it will end up costing more to make and graphics will end up being cut back.
I don't care so much about graphics. I was never a graphics snob. Like if the best we get is RDR 2, it is more than enough IMO. I can still have fun playing games like Minecraft. I care more about the function and feel of a game than the graphics but I know not everyone is like this.
