It's a very complicated topic. Science has to be an absolute if you do not believe in the spiritual. It has rules, and everything is forever bound by the rules.
The minute you open your eyes to God and the spiritual world, all the stuff that doesn't seem to have an explanation or make sense does.
Putting 100% faith in science in itself, which is amoral and just the pursuit to knowledge, also means putting all faith and trust in what can be derived from human knowledge and inference and closing oneself to anything that doesn't fit in that box.
There are scientists who are Christian. It's not mutually exclusive. But it can become an idol and a god to fill the void of having God.
