Anyone see a lot of similarities between these two?

7 Chaos Emeralds = 7 Dragon Balls

Sonic = Goku
Tails = Gohan
Knuckles = Piccolo
Shadow = Vegeta
Silver = Future Trunks

Those are some examples I can think of, personally.

I never followed Sonic. I mean I played it as a kid briefly because one of the kids down the street had a Sega but I never got into the characters or the lore. I was always more of a Nintendo kid. Either way, knowing both characters came from Japan, well... It is kind of obvious someone ripped off someone else's ideas to a certain extent.

But Sega does what Nintendon't!

I don't think too many people, even those who grew up as Sega fans, got too deep into the Sonic lore :D. Sonic has friends, Sonic fights Dr. Robotnik, end of Sonic storyline. Hell, I grew up with both Sega and Nintendo and didn't even realize Sonic had a whole show and whatnot attached to it until I was about 12 or 13. I just liked him going fast and beating levels.

The concept of the game was great but I think the "older" fanbase ruined the entire franchise.

I remember watching the edgy Sonic cartoon in the early 90's. That and the Sonic anime movie is about how deep my involvement in the lore goes. I haven't watched more than a few episodes of Sonic X.

Nah, actually Sonic 2's older than me by about a year lol. Which I'm realizing how strange that sounds considering my previous claim but still, a lot of my earliest gaming memories revolve around playing Sonic 2 with older brother (meaning I was always Tails). We even had an N64 but honestly I'm not that nostalgic for it, guess we never had enough games for it and played the SNES & Genesis mostly until the sixth generation (not that I don't have memories of playing of N64 but nothing compared to the earlier. And my second earliest memory ever is watching a Dragon Ball Z commercial for Toonami and thinking/saying we have to watch this.
 
I do got intop sonic before db although i suck at playing the games!
I think super sonic is unique enough first off it can only be used by having the Chaos emeralds arround!
Its not really limited to a species!
and a lot of other franchises use SSJ inspired forms!

If someone wants to know more about sonic im relativly knowledgeable!
