An interesting supposition on the usage and power boost that Goku gets using Kaioken while he's already transformed into SSJ. It's a technique that comes from one of the better pieces of filler in DBZ. During the Otherworld tournament Goku put this technique on display against Paikuhan. So do you think if Goku used the Super Kaioken during his battle against Cell he could have finished him off? I think he would have burned out his body and Cell would have just regenerated even from a tiny piece of himself like he did when he blew himself up. So while it greatly boosts the SSJ transformation, it still doesn't come close to SSJ2. Gohan was an absolute monster like Geekdom says in his video.

Yeah the burn out would have likely ended up killing him so we would have had the same result either way. Remember, Cell just came back after he blew himself up.

I dunno, it's all about consistency - which this series is notorious for not having. Maybe Goku could have beaten Cell using the Super Kaioken, but Goku always likes to play with his food before he eats, so...

The video makes a good point about Cell being made a Jabroni out of in the Other World - and that's again where the consistency comes into play.

What about the next level of this discussion? Kaioken Blue! Still an anime exclusive, but a cool idea nonetheless that was more than a one-off.

When did this take place? In the first tournament? I can't remember but I do remember him doing it.

Yeah, just one of the many gripes with Super's writing. They waste so much potential on what should be epic moments on dumb stuff. Kaioken Blue, Vegito Blue, etc.
They just rush great storytelling points to seemingly get to the fighting as quickly as possible or to speed through a fight already in progress.
