I didn't realize it was free on Xbox. Was watching someone play Oblivion remastered. Looked fun. Never played anything from the series. I know this one is from 2014 but still seems active.

ESO is an MMO set in Elder Scrolls universe, so it's not really like the others.

I would recommend:

- Oblivion Remastered
- Skyrim

The community swears by Morrowind but the original engine is essentially unplayable (and no one will admit that). There is a total conversion mod for original Oblivion (Morroblivion) that MIGHT work with Remastered - basically drops the original game in Oblivion's engine so it plays like Oblivion (with the graphical quality). It's quite good.

The same team is working on Skywind (Morrowind in Skyrim); not sure where that's up to. They're extremely close to releasing Skyblivion (which will be functionally different to Oblivion Remastered).

In terms of the immediate question, I played ESO a little bit once several years ago. I didn't hate it, and had every intention of opening it again... but it never happened.

I know it isn't the same experience but I want to be able to play with Jay, aren't the main series games single player?

@Giga Hertz what would you recommend in terms of race and class?

I was watching videos and it seems like everyone has a different opinion on which is best lol

For ESO I have no opinions because I haven't touched it in like 8 years.

For all the others... I go with whatever is interesting. Often human, but also often whatever has the best stealth and/or archery stats (since I prefer to play that way).

Humans usually have the most positive dialogue interactions with NPCs (but that's less important than, say, BG3 where you might forever be locked out of a game route or problem solving option)
