The Fourth Turning... Well, this is interesting

So I didn't actually read this book but oh boy does it sound interesting. It was written in the late '80s, early '90s and published in 1997. The book details historical events of the last 80 years and how the next shift (dark winter) would begin in the early '00s and finish up around 20 years later with the next boom or "spring" where times get great again. The author talks about things that had actually happened which makes it strange. Speaks about terrorist groups overseas and locally (in the US) and everything coming to a head around 2020. The author mentions pretty direct things like Bill Gates funding population control, states breaking apart from the US, a virus that targets dense populations, intersection, blame placed on presidents, and so on. According to his predictions, we have anywhere from 3 to 7 more years of madness, outrage, anger, collapse, and problems in the US before the period shifts and we are brought into a new time period of creativity, prosperity, growth, and so on.

Anyone ever hear of the book?

Can't say I've heard of this one in particular, but I have heard of similar books that were authored about very similar situations. It's hard to deny the hypothesis when the evidence is right there in front of you, though...

I think the author, I can't remember his name and I am too lazy to search for it (lol) was a history buff and just noticed patterns. If you pay attention to technology enough and know enough about history, I suppose you can predict some of this stuff but the specifics are a bit insane. Like saying there will be a virus that will mainly affect densely populated areas (cities) and something about locking down the country.

Yep, for sure, there are clear patterns and I remember reading about patterns that date all the way back past the civil war that still hold true to this day. I think it was an older book than the one you're referencing, but it was very, very similar in material. Scary stuff, honestly.

It just proves human nature is predictable and follows patterns, doomed to continuously make the same mistakes.

Yep, so much for learning from history or else being doomed to repeat it...we're not breaking the cycle anytime soon.
