Tech To Combat Child Abuse and Underage "Performers," Pornhub has Removed Most of It's Videos

Pornhub is removing all videos uploaded to its site by unverified users, millions of videos in total, as part of a crackdown on user-uploaded content after two major payment processors suspended service. The decision, first reported by Motherboard, stems from a New York Times report that found the site was hosting videos of people who are underage and videos showing children being assaulted.

So essentially, Pornhub have had their finances threatened so they are finally doing something about the videos on their site that shows underage girls having sex, children being abused, and potential actual sexual assaults taking place. Videos may now only be uploaded by verified accounts or accounts within their "Model" program which requires age verification in order to upload. Having gone from nearly 13.5 videos to just 2.9 million as of Monday morning, it appears Pornhub has wiped out the vast majority of their content, finally taking the chance to restructure their services.

As someone who isn't really a purveyor of porn I don't really care that they've removed so many videos that may or may not have been perfectly fine. I do, however, agree with removing underage girls, sexual assaults and child abuse from the platform as completely as possible. The fact it was there, it continued to be there, and Pornhub seemingly didn't care until their finances were threatened is disgraceful in itself and makes me glad I don't waste my time with the stuff.

I heard and I am very pleased with this news. I posted about this not long ago where women were coming forward saying their "sex videos" when they were underage were being watched on the platform. There were also women who didn't know they were filmed, others in abusive relationships where they didn't have a say in the matter, and more. These sites need to be held accountable for stuff like this. If someone wants to post their sexual acts for the world to see, that is their choice but there should be ID verification, forms to fill out, and proper screening. It is or at least was way too easy for underaged girls and women to be abused on that platform.

I heard and I am very pleased with this news. I posted about this not long ago where women were coming forward saying their "sex videos" when they were underage were being watched on the platform. There were also women who didn't know they were filmed, others in abusive relationships where they didn't have a say in the matter, and more. Completely agreed, if they're not going to properly identify the people in the video and make sure they are willing participants of legal age then they should not be hosted on any platform, let alone the "youtube of porn." If that's your thing and you're of age and consenting, go for it, but if you're not consenting, not aware, or not of age to consent, then it has no business being public. I'm sure lots of them were revenge porn videos spread around to make one of the participants look bad, and those are just as bad as actual sexual assaults being recorded and uploaded, or videos of underage children taking part. I'm glad they took this step, though it absolutely should have been done much sooner.

Completely agreed, if they're not going to properly identify the people in the video and make sure they are willing participants of legal age then they should not be hosted on any platform, let alone the "youtube of porn." Oh for sure. I am not for the industry, seeing how it can really mentally and physically abuse both men and women but I know people like to toot their horns and blow their own whistles so to speak. I just want to know that no one is being hurt. There is no sure-fire way to know 100% without it being completely rid but at least this platform is stepping in. I hope for any of the other ones out there who aren't taking precautions learn from this.

Oh for sure. I am not for the industry, seeing how it can really mentally and physically abuse both men and women but I know people like to toot their horns and blow their own whistles so to speak. I just want to know that no one is being hurt. There is no sure-fire way to know 100% without it being completely rid but at least this platform is stepping in. I hope for any of the other ones out there who aren't taking precautions learn from this.

Agreed, it's astonishing to me that one of the larger sub-genres of porn revolves around bondage and treating people like sub-human pincushions, and somehow that's not just fine, it's something that people enjoy. I don't quite understand that, but as I've said before, I don't really get into porn, so...maybe it's better than I'm understanding it to be? It seems like it would be torturous for the person being used (that's what it is, after all), and yet these people are all consenting to it? Seems suspicious to me. So long as there is going to be more monitoring of content, participants and whatnot, then by all means, if it's your thing, go for it. It's just not something that ever resonated with me, personally. The context that I'm supposed to be interested in the girl participating, and then in comes some random guy to have sex with her while I sit and cuckold myself in the hopes she might wink at the camera or something? No thanks, I'd rather find an actual woman and have an actual relationship. Regardless, it's a booming industry and my own aversions aren't going to stop that. I'm just glad they're finally starting to regulate it, if only a minuscule amount.

Agreed, movies get you invested in a story and the characters first, it's not just "oh look, we're here, we can't act to save our lives, let's strip!" and they're off the races. I don't care for her because she's been on screen for all of five seconds, and I damn sure don't care for him...so...great, you guys read some lines and had sex...bravo? I'll just be over here watching actual movies, and if they happen to include love scenes as a part of it, cool if it serves the narrative. It does nothing for me, personally, in terms of getting me in the mood, but if it helps the plot and keeps the story interesting I can at least appreciate it. Maybe I just suck at living vicariously through others? Particularly in that area...if I'm looking for something in the sex department, I'd rather be involved, not watching others. It's very dark and hidden underworld that unfortunately many poor, under privileged, or even naïve young girls fell prey to unwittingly. Especially during COVID times I have seen a lot more females get into sex work and put themselves into dangerous situations where they meet contacts online that promise them cash to do photo shoots or shoot amateur films. Many of these young women are never seen or heard from again.

Do I blame Pornhub for being in the porn industry? Not really, but they are definitely at fault for not having active measures in place to ensure their content comes from or is produced from legitimate sources. If you want to be in porn as a working and consenting adult then that is your business.

The masks aren't helping either. There has been an increase in child abductions since they mandated it because children are harder to identify while wearing them.

I saw a video not too long ago that was in the London area (UK) where a woman was on her way to work or the store or something and a little girl was walking to school when a man grabbed her, told her not to scream, and was walking her somewhere. The woman kept yelling at him and filming him. He finally let her go and she clung to the woman in tears saying "I was only trying to go to school". I am not sure when this happened, could have been earlier this year, maybe last year but it really made me sick.
