Must've been the cause of all of the violence at the time. Those young kids running around going super Saiyan and Kamehameha-ing everyone to death.
Well, I mean, if Marilyn Manson can cause a school shooting, DBZ might as well be the most violent anime in history. Thankfully Elfen Lied hadn't come out yet!To compare it to Pulp Fiction is a wee bit of s stretch though.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. And all those violent video games making kids do violent things.

I grew up playing that game and I was so violent... I cried when I accidentally smashed a bird egg.

They were so afraid we might knock something over and apologize for it!Yep, total nightmares! They quaked when kids like us walked in!
That was my calling card when I walked in, trample something and collapse in fear at what I'd done!
I was such a hardened criminal the thought of saying something and someone taking it the wrong way would make my anxiety sore.

Ignoring the plain stupidity of Wall Street, I do agree that Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Bleach, Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! were all very popular back in the day. I guess to a lesser extent, so were One Piece, InuYasha, and Fullmetal Alchemist. Those were the most popular and well known Anime back then. 2010 Anime doesn't really have the same epic feel to them as Anime and Manga in the 80s, 90s, and even the 2000s.
