Damn I wish I had skills like that! That's absolutely incredible!
I had a friend who took up amateur bladesmithing in his backyard using a homemade forge. He made a pretty cool machete out of the leaf spring from a vehicle suspension.
These are always cool. Also glad it's not just another "Hey look at me use my $8,000 lathe" video lol.
One thing worth noting is that people often use pre-fabricated items like the nail and leaf-spring, because they've already been folded and are slag free. So all they have to do is heat and carve.
Whereas if he tried to do it with a pure piece of steel, it would be 100x harder, because he has to cure, fold, de-slag, and prevent warp etc constantly.
I've been watching too much Forged in Fire lol.
