I played it way back in 2006 to 2008. I loved the game but decided to stop as it was too addictive and taking up too much of my time. I never went back and played it again. Got rid of the discs and moved on. I heard a lot of people talking about how bad it has gotten, especially in the last 5 or so years. I went on the website and it almost feels like a Sims game now based on what I read and saw. Like they are adding housing that you can customize, neighborhoods, and what sounds to me a lot like neighborhood potlucks.
This stuff sounds fun to me but it doesn't sound anything like WoW. I am wondering if the reason this game seems more female coded is because more women work on it now than last time I played. The charm of it before for me is that it wasn't like other games I played (Sims being one of them). It really feels like they softened the game too much and made it too cutesy. Maybe I am just too old to understand lol
I also saw some woman who is in charge somewhere in Blizzard talking about how she wishes it didn't have "Warcraft" in the title because it is too negative. Why not just start a separate game that is more friendly, fantasy, cutesy, and neighborhood driven than change a legacy game to have all this stuff? I don't get it.

Looking into this a bit more, it would appear they are making changes hoping to get people to play longer while not needing to feel they have to invest time like it is a second job but also they are trying to bring back old players. I don't know if these new changes they are making will help the game or not but I do know this sounds and looks nothing like the WoW I remember. Maybe that is a good thing for younger modern players? I don't know.
