What if Nappa just lost to Goku without Vegeta ordering him to forfeit, and what if Nappa didn't attempt to kill Gohan and Krillin, and what if he ended up just as damaged as he was in Canon after Goku used Kaioken, and what if Goku used Kaioken to beat Nappa in the scenario? Do you see Vegeta sparing Nappa if all of this happened instead?

Nah, Vegeta was ruthless and would have still seen him as a weakling holding him back.

I doubt things would have gone any different. Goku destroyed Nappa's body with the Kaio-ken. He tells Vegeta that Nappa won't be able to fight anymore. As Vegeta said, "I have no use for a Saiyan that can't move!".

Vegeta killing Nappa was meant to show how cold and ruthless he was. Ultimately, he only ever cared about himself.
