I didn't watch Yu-Gi-Oh! but I did watch Pokemon for the first few seasons.

Fair. I was just talking about about old yugioh, but yeah modern day the Pokemon one is easier
Pokémon, mostly because I never really watched Yu-Gi-Oh!, watched a good amount of GX later on though. Have several strong memories of OG Pokémon series, if my favourite show as a kid was Dragon Ball Z, then my brother's was Pokémon, so I happened to watch it a lot. Wasn't forced watching though, there's several good to great episodes, including several tearjerkers like Bye Bye Butterfree and Pikachu's Goodbye. No idea if those would even hold up on re-watch but those were probably the saddest episodes I've seen at that time. Team Rocket's also awesome, that will never change.
That said, I'm more interested in revisiting Yu-Gi-Oh! than Pokémon (though I do want to see the Sun & Moon anime). I wouldn't watch the anime, no I have the abridged series for that, but I'd love to read the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. At least the chapters before it became about the card games. The good old times where Yami Yugi would just straight up set people on fire.

Can confirm, those episodes do not hold up because Team Rocket is ridiculously cringe in retrospect.
