Which character could benefit from more development?

Gohan should have a completely different involvement. More involved than Goku. I think Gohan should have been instead of Goku right after he died before the before cell's death. Goku should have never comeback after cell. And I think the whole cell scenario with the tournament and all should had been done differently. Goku should have died and that is it. He never should have appeared again. Gohan's story line should have been developed further. And think they can still redo it. I would be better for me if they took Goku out of Dragonball like Akiro wanted. Goku should die and Gohan should be better. Together with the others Trunks and Vegeta.

Agree with you except for the redo part. I think it's too late and redundant now. But there are good fanfictions out there treating this subject.

Gohan when he was a child was stronger than Goku? Well at least I thought that he was going to be.

That just shows how terrible Toriyama is at writing women. All the female fighters just got married, got children and became bland and useless. They all had so much potential too. Chi-Chi and Videl were prodigies and Android 18 was literally a fighting machine. They could have been great, but Toriyama just put them on the sidelines after they had their final moments.
 
I really wished they did something more with gotenks. I thought it was such a cool addition and really did something with gotten and trunks, who were otherwise useless. There could have been so many cool training opportunities or cool fights.
 
Bulma was written fine. I like that she is super smart but still ditzy at times. Toriyama openly admitted he hates Chi Chi so that likely is why she is the traditional, overbearing Japanese mother that demands her son be good at school.
 
I do agree they somewhat wasted 18, she could have been such a great addition.

I'm glad Toriyama realized just what a monstrosity he had created with Chi-Chi, though...evil, evil woman...
