Why does Dragon Ball Super hate muscular characters?

In previous Dragon Ball anime, we used to see a lot of characters possess muscles in places where they should not have muscles. Nowadays most of the characters look like they are really skinny, they look like they are on a different diet and it is affecting their musculature. I am no fitness expert and this topic might had been discussed to death but why does Super hate muscular fighters?

Jiren alone proves that isn't the case. I think that for the main characters, they toned them down while they weren't fighting, made them look smaller/trimmer so when they are fighting, their muscles can bulge more.

Thankfully we got more ripped characters later in the series.
They did tone it down a lot from the DBZ days. Everyone looked like they were on roids back then lol

I thought it was fine considering they could literally move mountains. Might as well look the part.
I had no issue with it. It was part of what I loved about the animation. Was just saying they looked like they were hammering roids. lol

The simplest and most real world answer is because the art directors were different between the two anime series. You're talking 20 years difference between when DBZ ended in Japan and Super started in Japan. A lot of the people who worked on DBZ just retired by then. Also, the Super manga has been drawn by Toyotaro and not Toriyama. He tries to emulate his style, but it's still not 100%.

I am amazed at how jacked everyone was back in the earlier days of Dragon Ball Z especially Tien with his arms.

This is a shift that seems to be true for Shonen in general, not just Dragon Ball. Compare any Shonen Protagonists to Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star or even Ryo Saeba from City Hunter and none of them can compete when it comes to muscle mass. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is probably the best example for this though due to it still going on and the fact that certain characters have lasted through Araki's change in art style/character design. Like Jotaro, he looked like this in Stardust Crusaders, then come Golden Wind and he looks like this. Goku's got nothing on Jotaro's muscle loss.

This is one major reason why Toriko isn't as popular as many other Shonen titles.

I had forgotten about Toriko. Definitely the only modern example I can think of that went back to the overly muscular designs. It's so weird how huge that series seemed to be for a little while, it got crossover with One Piece & Dragon Ball, and when J-Stars Victory Vs. was announced Toriko was with Naruto, Luffy, and Goku in the announcement trailer. Flash forward to today where he's not even represented in Jump Force. Maybe they too excessively promoted it or something, though I also heard the anime adaption was trash. Either way, the mangaka evidently engaged in child prostitution, so it's hard to be that upset about the series' fate.

This is why I'm glad the Rurouni Kenshin author can't continue his Kenshin story, since he's into child pornography.

Honestly, I always the super jacked look and everything was dumb looking because it reminded me of those roided up powerlifters and such, and they look unnatural, disgusting, and stupid .

. . . Yeah, about that. Watsuki is still writing the Hokkaido arc of Rurouni Kenshin, it's just not getting localized anymore. As for Toriko's mangaka, Shimabukuro, well turns out he just started a brand new serialization in Shonen Jump that *is* getting localized. Doesn't make any sense to me but I guess paying a 16 year old girl to have sex with you is forgivable as long as you don't own any naked pictures of her.

*Edit*

I think my sarcasm might come across as defending child pornography. Let the record show, I'm not. I just think child prostitution is worse, and it's weird to me they're not both punished over here equally.
