Will Yamcha ever be useful for anything?

I was thinking back to Dragon Ball and how big of a role he had with Goku growing up. Then in Dragon Ball Z, he was still training and still able to put up a decent fight but nearing the end, he was kind of washed up. He focused on baseball and gave up with fighting and we see that in full swing in DBS. I don't expect him to ever play a big role in one of the stories again but will he ever be useful for anything other than filler?
