A US Army officer who was held at gunpoint and pepper-sprayed following a Virginia traffic stop has now filed suit against two police officers alleging racial profiling, according to reports.

Lt. Caron Nazario, a member of the US Army Medical Corps, was wearing his military fatigues when he was pulled over on December 5 in Windsor reportedly for driving his new Chevy Tahoe without license plates.

A temporary paper license plate was taped to the rear window.

Bodycam video shows that officers pulled their weapons and ordered him to get out of the vehicle.

The incident soon escalated when Nazario, described as Black and Latino, refused to comply, saying he was afraid to get out of the vehicle.

“Yeah you should be,” one of the officers said in response. Nazario was pepper-sprayed, removed from the SUV and handcuffed while laying the ground.

These cops are assholes. This happened back in December and he is suing them. I hope he wins.

Damn right, guy had his hands out of the car and was telling them he was scared while they were pointing guns at his head and all they can come back with is a "yeah, you should be?" Fuck them.

Yeah I was pretty pissed when I read about that. Tons of military here in VA and they should be treated with respect.
This is the kind of behavior I'd expect from like a 15 year punk not a police officer. Like wtf is wrong with these guys?

Agreed. What I also don't understand is how they could keep going on like that with everything being recorded. Surely you'd think they'd know better, but apparently not. It really shows that this is an ongoing problem in the US.

They need to require more training to be a police officer. That would sort a lot of this out.

I don't know if training alone will handle it. There probably needs to be a whole lot more accountability.
I mean require more hard work, training, etc. to have a badge. A lot of cops that do this stuff are lazy and stupid. If it took 3+ years to be a cop, they wouldn't bother.

Welp, either way it will be harder to do when they are cutting budgets and what not.

A lot of cops retired since everything that happened last year which likely included a lot of good cops. So some areas are left with bad ones and young ones.

I didn't actually see the video until now... Holy crap.

The entire story is that he was signaled to pull over and kept driving a minute to get to an area that had lights. While the cops should have been cautious of this when approaching the vehicle, it could have easily been sorted as a misunderstanding when his hands were in the air and seeing the man was in a uniform. What bothers me is that he was being EXTREMELY calm throughout this entire event... And yet they continued to act like assholes towards him. Not to mention, they managed to pepper spray his dog. WTF
