I finally convinced my mother and father to go to Church with me in March.

So my Dad said he no longer wants to go to Church with me because I told him I want the deluxe edition Berserk Manga for my birthday in April. He called it demonic and all that so we got into a heated argument over it.
Sorry to hear you are going through that with your pops. I went through a few things with my folks, who were deep in their Religion. Especially my mom, who was really weird about somethings.
I just brushed it off and just accepted we see things differently and she is set in her ways. Eventually she slowly saw some of the stuff is was interested in was far from bad.
However, i wont ever forget the damn fit she threw when I dressed up as Doctor Frankenfurther Freshman year for Halloween.
Anyway, let him calm down and hopefully he will see it was an over reaction on his part. As a father myself, I can tell you we are far from perfect, and we feel like absolute shit when we realize we over reacted, our we unnecessarily shit on something our children likes.
Once again, I'm sorry you had this happen, but hopefully he will realize his error and see he hurt his child.
We made up and now he’s going to Church with me next Sunday I believe.

It sounds like he can be very set and stubborn, but something to be mindful of in any kind of relationship is to not push things even if the other person is wrong or trying to escalate. It's very easy to go downhill over an argument that doesn't really matter.
I also think he has a woe is me mentality when it comes to Church due to his bad experiences surrounding them.
Oh yeah, there can be a lot of hurt and issues for people when it comes to church, for a variety of reasons. Usually the problem comes from acknowledging that it was a certain person/people at one particular church (or denomination), and casting aspersions to churches everywhere as a whole.
That can also be understandable. I think there's been a bit of controversy with the SBC over the last several years.
I grew up Pentacostal, so basically a cult, haha. I can't count the times my mom or Grandma threw olive oil on me, trying to get the demon out of me.
Welllllll... yes and no. You get extremes. I would consider myself Pentecostal, and very much believe in demons and Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
But what they were doing is definitely on the extreme side heading into cultiness (if not otherwise there).
I finally got a chance to speak with her. It was a nice, casual conversation. Apparently she recognized and remembered me at a Youth Group before and I never even noticed her because she’s apparently very stylish. I think that’s a good sign.
