Ngl, if they would have bought a physical disc then this wouldn't have happened. Folks gonna learn the hard way.
I still say we might see a rise of a new gaming company that will do physical discs.
Lots of folks are pissed about killing discs. I hope they crash and burn.

A lot of the people that are mad sadly weren't buying them.
From a business standpoint, it makes no sense to make discs when fewer than 14% of the customer base buys them. What they should have done was make it relevant to buy them again before it came to this. Like how vinyl records outsell CDs by 3 times the amount. People value them as collectables and art. If games were viewed the same, there would still be a strong market for it.
I haven't bought a physical game since CoD Ghosts I think. Or GTA 5. Which ever came after the other. That was the last one I got because I moved to PC gaming in 2015. I moved back to console in 2022 but got the digital Series S so again, no reason to buy discs.

This biggest problem with this, Sony just showcased. They wiped two previous consoles from the PS store so you don't have any access to any of those games that you bought, if you did. And they also removed movies that people bought.
I think the only way we get protections for this is via the government. And I hate saying that.

I have no reason to buy physical games. I have nothing that can play them.
But because they are pushing this, I fully support pirates.
Xbox is doing this too. If console is moving this direction, I am done. I already decided that though. I am moving back to PC gaming. I trust Steam more than I trust Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo. At least I have some level of comfort believing my games will always be on Steam.
I mean if console is going to end up being a simular price to PC gaming, why would anyone buy a console? You get more for your money just having a gaming PC and you don't have to worry as much about your digital library being erased.
The only reasons people get console still over PC is because it is cheaper, more convient, and for exclusives. It isn't going to be cheaper anymore. It isn't more convient anymore. And most of the exclusives are ass anyways. Plus, you can get games on sale through Steam and not have to pay to play online with friends like you do on console. I am remembering why I moved to PC gaming in the first place. Screw Xbox and PlayStation.
