A timid girl who went through something traumatic could create a hyper-masculine alter-ego to compensate for her perceived weaknesses.

Does anyone know why in Dragon Ball you've seen Goku beckoning someone like this?The spaceship landing spot is a neat fact, but I'd never considered the fact that winking is such a western-oriented gesture. I'm not sure it is these days, given how globalized the world is, but for the time frame, it definitely would have been. A neat tactic to help create cultural separation between two vastly different characters.
