General Politics Thread

What is funny is the criminals still are able to get guns in the UK :haha:

Also Jay is part of that statistic, he was stabbed before. What a lovely country.
Sorry to hear that about Jay. Thankfully he doesn't have to worry about that anymore and he can stay tooled up at his leisure.

I just want to come out and say I don't support the Florida legislature's position on this issue. There are ways of handling this that don't burden the taxpayers so much

And I do mean ACTUAL pedophiles!

That isn't the only tweet like that. There was a string of accounts posting that exact thing, word for word. No joke.

People are still arguing with bot accounts on there that are, for whatever reason, pro pedo. I replied to someone that screen grabbed one and said "sounds like a self confession" or something like that. Only to realize dozens of accounts said the same exact thing.

Steven Crowder's been going through a divorce for the past two years. Essentially since his twins were born.

:pancry:
REALLY? I would not have known. I wonder if this has to do with all the attacks on him. Maybe it caused fights. That is crazy. I thought he was happily married.

It's on the cold open on today's episode. There's really a lot to unpack there; there's been a lot of unfounded information, accusations from someone who is believed to be Hilary's cousin, and just a lot more attacks aimed towards him.

It explains a lot of his general demeanours and moods in recent times, but man it sounds like it's hit him hard. He's probably not a hugging kind of guy, but I'd love to give him a hug.

That was kind of shitty of Owens. She should have left it with "we just need to pray for him" and that is it. The fact that she got cocky about it and teased actually telling people, that is dirty. I don't care what Crowder said or did, you have to consider there are children involved who did not choose any of this.

So Ring footage came out today (conveniently after their main show ended) of an argument they had a few years ago. The clip going around (obviously) makes him look pretty bad. There's a few people commenting it sounds like there's more context required, and lots of other stuff on top of that. I'm not jumping on any sides here, nor about to unsubscribe.

I have a few thoughts in general:
- If this is what it is, then I will disappointedly accept that he's an a-hole and quit watching
- It's also possible that they're both in the wrong
- We have the whole Amber Heard situation where there was plenty of evidence that made Depp look bad until he actually got a chance to defend himself and allllllllll the dirty laundry came out
- Steven seems to not really want to talk about it publicly; the only reason he even mentioned it is because everyone on the internet was bring it up - he seems to be getting dragged for:
--- bringing it up (despite the fact everyone was already doing it)
[UWSL]--- bringing it up but trying to keep it private and respectful and explaining he still loves his wife[/UWSL]
[UWSL]--- not bringing it up before[/UWSL]

[UWSL]The final thought is everyone looks at NotGayJared who is being tactful but supportive of Hilary, even though he hasn't really had anything to do with them in 5-6 years; SvenComputer who was fired, likely with good cause; and a whole heap of ex-employees leaving - which is likely standard turnover in that sort of industry. Gerald - who has been there the longest - also is not the kind to mince words on biblical principles (he got into a huge debate with everyone about whether remarriage after divorce was okay despite the divorce reason); if he's seen this, knows about allllllll the stuff, then I would hope he has some really good reasons to stand by him.[/UWSL]

I have no idea what my ex-wife said about me to her side when she left; I do know that not a single person reached out to me to see if I was okay or anything. She could have omitted the awful things she did to me, overemphasised my shortcomings, or just said "we both decided to get divorced". That was all private stuff; I can't imagine what it's like dealing with this online.

tl;dr - if he is what everyone is trying to paint him as; he's a major a-hole who needs his ass kicked and I regret giving any money. If it's a "they both suck" then I feel awful for the kids. If this is more a her-than-him thing then I really hope he gets through it. I really feel for him.

My first thought when you posted about it was she probably took a back seat to his career and didn't feel noticed anymore. Which likely caused a lot of fighting. And he was too busy to take time off to fix it. Considering he says he is so pro-marriage and is getting a divorce "just because she didn't want to be married anymore" is not a reason to divorce, especially with kids involved. You work things out. There has to be more to it.

I had to see the video.

This dude has some problems. I am not taking her side but it seems like he is pressuring her too much to be his ideal standard of the perfect wife and ignoring her as a person.

Of course there are problems, and I doubt he'd disagree. But there are many people who just nope out because they think it's easier and the whole "do what's best for you" mantra amplifies it.

I also saw comments to the effect of "the kids are too young to know any different". People tell plenty of lies to themselves to justify leaving a spouse.
