I can't name one popular "new" song right now. I have no idea which artists are popular. Maybe it is my age? I don't know. It just seems like music hit a wall and people just go back to what we knew and know was good music. I am seeing a lot of zoomers taking up listening to music from the '80s and '90s. I even find myself enjoying older music that I cringes at in my teens and early 20s.

I have always loved old music, and then 90's/00's music is a must.

There isn't a lot out there currently but I occasionally see a gem here and there but that is because of mashups.

I think it's because you're old. Taylor Swift is still producing stuff, Chapel Roan, Billie Eyelash and Sabrina Carpenter are apparently popular (can't name of any of their crap).

I think largely it's because it's mass produced carefully marketed crap that's meant to fit carefully crafted anti-conservative sentiments. Your taste in music also feeds largely into this, where it's 2020s pop that's winning rather than classic/punk rock that was popular in the early 00s.

This seems to be pretty global even over the Christian side. Skillet is still producing banger after banger, but a lot of other bands have stalled, I guess because there's less demand for the genre. Worship music in the mid-00s was built around classic-rock tones but now is mostly synth pop.

We probably have to wait for the cycle to come back around to punk rock and the world can heal.

I will be fair in saying I stopped listening to mainstream music back in like 2012. I do remember my aunt still listening to current music at my age.
