Hey all,
if anyone can spare a thought -- my sister's partner's grandchild is currently in the ICU fighting for her life, it's not looking good but we are about to hit a critical point today and any extra positive vibes going in her direction would be absolutely amazing!
Her name is Astrid, she's 2 years old and on Wednesday morning she she managed to get out of the house while her mother was getting dressed. She looked for her for a long time, then called my sister and her partner and the police. They found her in the neighbor's pool, no idea how long she had been underwater. Medics rushed her to hospital, they did CPR for over an hour, but it looked hopeless. They brought in a chaplain who performed last rites and right when it was looking the most hopeless she took a breath. She had a pulse, and extremely faint pulse, but a pulse. They worked to stabilize her as much as possible and then transferred her to the hospital she is in now, Phoenix Children's. She's on ventilators, brain wave monitors, all sorts of other things, and today they're weaning her off of one of the sedatives to try to determine how much brain functionality she has. Fingers crossed for some good news...
But please, if you have a spare moment, just send some positive vibes her way.
