Believe they tried this in Portugal or somewhere like that and it had a noticeable affect on people actually using drugs in a positive way. Since the thrill of it being illegal was gone, a lot of people flat out stopped. Addicts being what they are still carried on, but at least the government was getting a share this time around...

Portland has now officially become a lawless drug den. What a shit hole.

As long as the government gets a cut, it's all good...just enjoy the ride down to the bottom!
It's not so good to look at when you're a person in a profession who has to deal with the users and abusers of chemical substances. They're not the type of people you want to see at your PTA meetings, let alone in any position of power in the gov't. I'm all for adults being able to sleep with whoever or poison themselves how they want but when you inject gov't into it. Subsidizing their habit is not far behind or tax payers paying for their rehab.

Oh I absolutely agree it's a terrible idea, but it seems to be the way governments are trending. If they can't beat them, join them. Doesn't make much sense to just raise your hands up and say, whatever, have your crack and your heroin and get on with it, but they keep trying to push it forward. Like I said, in one instance it's actually done alright, as more and more people have turned away from drugs since they're capable of doing them out in the open with no consequences, but that's a one off, and it still isn't a great idea to have governments standing behind that message that these disgusting poisons are a good thing.

I think maybe we should have focused more on recovery care to get people OFF drugs, not on them. Think of the kids these junkies have. Why do they have to suffer because their mother or father was a drug addict? That is disgusting.

Take Vancouver, B.C. for example such an insane opioid epidemic that the drug addicts number in the THOUSANDS and are laying all over the streets. They keep seizing public parks for themselves to create tent cities where assault, rape, and rampant drug use goes unchecked. They have safe injection sites and needle exchanges and their only treatment is to give people methadone. Then they get off the opiates and get hooked on methadone. Round and round we go.

Reading through the law a little bit more, it's not that they've legalized the drugs or possession of drugs, it's more an amendment to the enforcement regarding those drugs. So, in lieu of going to jail for possession of a small quantity ("non-commercial" levels), it's now going to be a fine for $100 or the taking of a drug rehab program for the first offense, and then increasing fines for subsequent offenses. The headlines saying they've legalized all drugs are misleading. I'm actually ok with that passing now that I've done a bit more research into it. I don't advocate for people doing drugs or for governments standing by while people slowly kill themselves with them, but I do think it's better to keep them out of prison for smaller quantities of drugs overall, so while I'd hate to see them just outright legalize everything, I do somewhat agree with what they're looking to do in this case assuming it's followed properly (and there's the big part of it...will it be?).

This really is a clown world...

I don't think it will be handled properly though... It will be abused and it will likely encourage druggies to be less careful in public and riskier which is bad for the general public, especially for children and women.

A bit of an update. If Biden takes NV, AZ, and GA... He only has 261. So he still loses. This is assuming the red states still counting stay red.

This is going to be quite narrow either way. We may know tomorrow morning, but it could take till even Thursday.

I'd wager we won't know anything until Friday at least, with mail-ins still to be counted.

That's a definite possibility, and that's what will determine how effective this will actually be. Sadly, there's always the potential for things like this to go wrong.

They actually rigged it and are trying to suppress people from pointing it out on social media LOL

They did this when Hillary was running against Trump too.
I don't think they rigged it last time, they tried to though. But since they clearly did do it this time and if they allow them to get away with it, this country is screwed. This means every election from here on out, we won't know what is the truth anymore. Both sides will be trying to rig it.
