He died of positional asphyxiation from being prone in a restrained position for too long. It's why after you handcuff someone you at least roll them on to their side in a recovery position unless they pose a threat like still being combative. Your body can give out on your from all your weight pressing on your diaphragm and internal organs. Don't get me wrong, just because the autopsy shows he didn't suffocate via strangulation that the ex-officer isn't culpable in his death. He is most certainly a contributing factor to what occurred. Makes a lot more sense why they went with 3rd degree murder and a secondary charge of manslaughter. They had this information before we did.

So he indirectly killed him by mishandling the man. This makes more sense. Everyone has been screaming about the cop strangling him to death or snapping his neck. I didn't see the video, only a few pictures. Not particularly a fan of seeing a man get killed be it on purpose or accident. I think this was accidental but his motive was still to mistreat the man.

You're entitled to your opinion. Remember your words when they start assassinating police officers like they did after Ferguson. I'll make sure to condemn it and morally posture for you.

One thing I think you're overlooking is that I'm not quite on "the side" you think I am.

I play Devil's Advocate sometimes and I make my best attempts to empathize. Sometimes I argue on the side I disagree with to keep the people on "my side" honest and correct.

Like I said, I'm a far right conservative. My personal opinion is that the riots and looting are bullshit. Not in the sense that they're not understandable, but because I think the mans death is being used as an excuse to do what they've always wanted to do to begin with... steal and destroy. I don't think 95% of these rioters give two damns about the plight of others, let alone that mans death. It's just an out for being barbarians.

However, for those blacks & sympathizers who are sitting at home grieving and upset and rooting it on, you have to try to understand why. Empathy is very important.

What I'm trying to say is that we have a problem that needs a fix. We don't need moral posturing or apologies or acknowledgement. We need to actually make change happen. Actually DO something.

The racial issues we have in this country will NOT heal until moves are made to actually fix problems. Blacks don't want us to apologize or acknowledge, they want action and change. Let's be real, there hasn't been much change the last few decades. They see that more than we (Non-blacks) do and they're fed up.

Something has to give or this will keep getting worse.

And I guess the protestors are getting out of hand in Cleveland now. I wish people could use their words to get points across. And I know the whole argument "the riot is a result of no one listening" but plenty have, you won't be able to change everyone's minds. Actions speak louder than words and that is the problem. These riots aren't sending any good messages. They are just causing more of a divide and more damage.

I guess there are groups of people randomly stopping cars, cars regular people are driving and bashing their windows in. What is this supposed to show someone? How the hell is this kind of behavior justifiable? I just don't get it. A man lost his life so you bash an innocent man or woman's car windows in to show them you're angry. You are just showing people you are an inconsiderate asshole that needs to be locked up.

These kinds of people (violent outrage mob types) make it really hard for me to want anything to do with the outside world anymore and make it more apparent that I need to own a gun for protection from them.

2020 is really shaping up to be something from hell. God help this world man.

Makes a lot of sense, but I agree he's still absolutely the result of him dying. Had he cuffed him and gotten off of him or even picked him up, George Floyd would still be alive. I'm glad he's being held accountable, but I'm also glad it's for the right offense.

I hate this garbage. It wasn't "the police" who killed a black man, it was one officer who has now been arrested. Likewise, in the other incidents around the country, it was not that entire department acting on one individual, it was one or two officers who likely will also face charges (Phoenix is now experiencing riots because of a similar incident, for example). My mother was a member of the Police service back in Britain, and a great deal of my uncles work in the prison system back there, too. They're good people attempting to do a job, so I've never held anything against "the police," but I also acknowledge there are a fair few bad apples that need to be weeded out before things like this happen.

And I guess the protestors are getting out of hand in Cleveland now. I wish people could use their words to get points across. This is people taking advantage of the situation for their own personal gain. People destroying cars and buildings, stealing goods from shops and restaurants and acting stupidly. It's not what the actual protests or protestors are about, and just like one bad officer giving police a bad reputation, a fair few bad people are right there giving the protestors a bad name. Stealing, looting, vandalizing, assaulting...that's not going to help anyone or get a point across, that's just petty theft and destruction and I hope those doing it are caught and charged for it. Also, how many of the businesses that they've destroyed thus far are owned by single families, small business owners, even minority owners just looking to scrape by? Now they've got to pick up the pieces because of a few morons. Nice job!

That is a fair judgment call. There are protestors out there who likely aren't taking any part in this but thanks to their actions (those rioting), all of them are being labeled as thugs and roped into it. It is just a shame. People have every right to protest but the ones who are rioting and getting violent are not only taking away from the message here but they are acting for themselves. Anger is a selfish emotion and only serves one person.

I just want people to see the ugliest side of this situation possible because it's going to turn into a nightmare before it gets better. One man very tragically lost his life. Now they're assassinating people wearing uniforms under the guise of retaliation. The gov't will respond and it will be heavy handy which will beget more violence. A lot of people are going to die just because ONE MAN was a fucking idiot, that being the ex-officer who has lost his life completely now. He's facing murder charges, hell, even his wife is leaving him. He has nothing and to that I shrug because you bear the consequences of your big boy decisions. Just know that this is going to turn far uglier than you can possibly imagine and it will be broadcast for the entire world to see. Think the Purge except it's not just one night. These aren't just angry black folks anymore. Antifa is using the riots as an excuse to create mayhem as well as other smaller domestic terrorist organizations. People are playing up The Joker and his creation of anarchy because they think it's fun to try and take down society. "Some men just want to watch the world burn." Tool up and stay safe because your neighborhood can be next.

It honestly scares me how people can flip a switch and become this barbaric. I hate how MSM feeds it as well. Stop giving these people attention. Focus on the protestors, not the lunatics who think they have a right to ruin other people's lives. I live in an area with a lot of gun owners so they wouldn't be wise to try this around these parts. At least in Ohio, if someone invades our property we have the right to shoot first and ask questions later. I hate that it has to come to this though. People who hate America should just leave.

Places around me are closing out of fear right now as well, I just heard about it. They are lighting cars on fire now in downtown Cleveland.

I don't like to swear often but seriously, fuck Antifa and anyone who supports that shit.

I saw they were interviewing people during the protest and a few of them were saying a small group started throwing stuff and breaking windows and that is not what they are about or what they are there for. You can't even protest without some assholes making it violent anymore. The national guard was called in for Cleveland as well. A bunch of choppers are heading there too. One of our reporters was attacked as well.

I have sympathy for George's death and his loved ones and those looking for change but the nasty people who are using this protest as an excuse to destroy cities across this county are criminals and need to be locked up. I saw so many cars on fire, not even cop cars either just random civilian cars... At this point these people aren't acting like animals, saying that would be giving them credit. Animals have a motive for what they do these people just love to destroy and cause mayhem. Legit like the end of the Joker movie right now.

There will be a special place in hell for the people who are taking advantage of the innocent and using a man's death to service their own sick nature. This whole ordeal just pisses me off at this point. Racism will never go away in America because there are groups who don't want it to and you'd be suprised to find out most of them are total anarchists who only give a shit about themselves.

That's exactly it. The people that are rioting are taking advantage of a bad situation just because they can. They're taking the message of the protest and making the whole group look bad and as though they have no idea what they're doing or who they're doing it for. If they'd step up and stop the people doing it before it gets bad and set an example, then maybe this wouldn't be escalating the way it is, but no, those who start it are getting bandwagoners to jump on board and it turns into the mass burning of buildings, the setting on fire of police stations, the looting of businesses, etc. It's sad, but lost in all of this is the actual message behind the protest.

It's not about George Floyd anymore. It's gone way past that and anyone who claims all the wanton destruction is justified to get the message across is a sociopath. Now it's about survival and I urge each and every single one of you to do whatever is necessary to protect yourselves and your families. The police will not be there to help you. Hell, before all this they would never make it in time either. Be proactive and arm yourselves if you have the ability and the training. If you have to get out of dodge to protect yourself then do so. Treat this situation like a hurricane coming to rip your whole fucking life apart because it can. Stay vigilant and most importantly stay safe.

As a sworn law enforcement officer I realize that people in my profession are in a tough spot right now. That being said I whole heartadly disagree with shit like this....
(May have to click onto Twitter to watch the video depending on your browser)

On the other side, I absolutely agree with this and we need to see more of this in our country right now. Good people willing to step up and do the right thing.

At this point, none of us should be suprised by this.

We live in a world where if you wear the wrong color hat or a shirt that implies anything, you can get jumped and beat up. If you have any association with a bad person be it job, race, identity, or world view, then you are also the problem. If we can't pull away from this "blame them all" reactive culture, racism will not only continue, it will get worse.

I think this is what these people want. They want a world filled with hatred. They don't want peace. Their lives are so empty and meaningless that they have to make up invisible wars in their own minds and destroy everything in their paths. And I hate to say it but maybe it is about time America wakes up to the harsh reality of our piss poor educational system letting us down and the fact that college campuses across the country are filled with men and women teaching young adults how to hate other people and hate this country.
