News Arizona: Here Come the Wildfires Again

How the heck are people still living there at this point? I mean being within a few miles of a fire has to be killing people's lungs.

Agreed, I was ready to leave when the fire near me got close-ish, and there are people living right on the doorsteps of these monstrous files and not batting an eyelid. I have no idea how they do it, but there's no question that this wildfire season is out of control and far worse than just about any I've seen.

I've been negligent in updating this for a while now, the fires are mostly contained, but several still burn. Had a scare today as a mountain about half a mile from my house caught fire. No known cause at this time, but crews worked rapidly to stop the spread. As for the rest...

-The Aquila Fire was 100% contained and extinguished on June 26th, 819 acres burned.

-The Bighorn Fire is still burning, standing at 119,236 acres burned and 85% contained.

-The Bringham Fire is still burning steadily at 23,142 acres and only 40% contained. It is slow moving, but still going.

-The Bush Fire, the big boy of this group, was extinguished on July 6th having burned 193,455 acres.

-The Central Fire was fully extinguished on July 1st at 4,499 acres

-The Mangum Fire is still burning at 71,450 acres and 88% contained.

Better news overall, but figured I'd keep this up to date for those fires still burning.
