It was a gang murder with one fatality. An alleged member of the Brothers Keepers was gunned down in a targeted assassination in a fairly nice neighborhood in downtown Vancouver. I was sitting on my balcony enjoying the nice weather with a glass of wine and the Mrs. when five cop cars go screaming with lights and sirens across the bridge adjacent to my building. I knew someone was dead as soon as I saw the ambulance trailing behind a few minutes later. It surprised me to learn the totality of the circumstances because violent crimes here are usually relegated to drug addicts or the mentally ill randomly stabbing people. Gun crime is more rampant in the suburban areas to the south of downtown due to the lower police presence. Not to say that VPD is always around because they're pretty few and far between but RCMP is responsible for everything south of the metro area and they're so understaffed it's ridiculous.
