I did, and it was corny too. She laughed at it for like a minute and bragged about the joke to another coworker. I feel like a boss.
If it makes you feel any better, I was going on friend dates with my girlfriend for 14 months before she finally decided to take it up a notch.
Well, I've basically given up on both a relationship and a friendship with this woman. I wanted to call her this weekend and she said she would just like to be friends with me at work. I can actually understand her not wanting to be in a relationship with me if she isn't interested in that, but I am disappointed in her just wanted to keep the friendship at work. I will still reciprocate a friendship outside of work if she ever changes her mind.
That sucks, man, but sometimes that's the way these things go. Just be sure to take it easy and not come on too strong at work - with enough time she might want to hang out as friends outside of that, but you're going to have to back off and give her some space - I'm not saying don't talk to her, just be careful to not be intense.
That's good! The best way is to roll with her and treat her as a work-friend, and not overstep or make things weird. You still have to see her until one of you moves on from that workplace.

This is true, but I remember her helping me with a table once, talking about how we both met and that she liked getting to know my father and I. I think I looked too much into that detail and wanted something more with her. Whether it be a relationship or a friendship outside of work with her.
She likely just likes to talk with people and is a polite person. Some women are like this and don't mean to come off as flirty. I have been friendly with co-workers before when I worked at a drug store years ago and they took it the wrong way. It happens. At least she is still being nice about it.
When you're single and/or interested in someone, it's heartbreakingly easy to mistake friendliness and genuine interest beyond what it actually is. It's also possible that when she realised you were interested, she decided backing off was the safer option to avoid leading you on and avoid making things awkward at work.
There's a good chance you could possibly be friends later on (and probably keep in touch if she goes to college), but yeah... you just have to roll with it.

Yeah, really hard to say what happened or what her intention was (only one person knows that, and she's (probably) not on this forum). And it sucks when you develop an interest and it's just not reciprocated.
My general approach is just make friends, get to know people with no intention of asking them out. Then if you become good friends and seem to line up you can broach the idea of a date. If she's keen, sweet. If not, you have a cool friend, so yay.

Guys, late last year, I was pursuing my female coworker who I had a crush on, and I thought the feelings were mutual, but they weren't. I'm going to go to Church with my brother for spirituality and the city Natatorium for exercise, but also to see if I can find love. Any advice?
