Oh I see, they are using child pornography as a push to pass this. How shady. You know they just want less privacy for people.

Absolutely nothing can justify child trafficking. That is something that needs to be stopped at all costs.

It does need to be stopped but it needs to be done without sacrificing everyone else's rights. I don't know how they can do this but someone has to figure it out.

What gets me is that anything bad that happens, a lot of other people have to pay the cost. These sickos need to be stopped but it seems the only option is remove privacy/security for everyone else. I have seen some very sick stuff on Twitter using hashtags to find underage girls and boys. If every day folks can figure this stuff out, why hasn't the government stepped in and taken care of it? Or better yet, why is Twitter not banning people over it?

I don't know how any of this works at the core but privacy is important to me and to most people but because of it, people are out there using their privacy walls to do horrible things to other people and children. This world is full of sick people.

But back to the virus topic, Italy seems to be just as bad as China with their outbreak but the death count is still not reaching what a lot of people were saying (over half a million total world wide). I think it was at 1,200 or something.

I hate to go off topic too much, but anyone even remotely involved in child trafficking is a sick person, so it really doesn't matter what cost everyone has to pay, and that's why the entire business needs to be shut down.

I agree that it needs more focus and every twisted, evil person involved deserves nothing short of the maximum our criminal justice system can lawfully impose. YET some doors that are opened are difficult or next to impossible to close. Be careful what you wish for and let the law enforcement officers and special agents responsible do their thing. Trust me you want you rights in tact.

As an aside, I see people praising the state of emergency our country is in right now because they’ve got things covered under legislation they’ve been wishing gov’t would provide them. People need to realize that when a national emergency is declared some rights are actually curtailed in the name of national security. Once again be careful what you wish for.

A bit of a TP update... lol

I read that they are working on stocking the shelves faster because of all these people hoarding and many places will put limits this time on what people can purchase.

Funny how two battles are happening right now and no one is talking about it. People are demanding more toilet paper but they need to cut down trees for this increased demand. *sigh*

Yeah, that's how they'll get the less technologically-minded on board. "Oh the people using this are all perverts, let's definitely stop it now!" Well no, actually, the vast majority of people employing end-to-end encryption tend to be on the level and are simply security-minded. We live in a terrible world with terrible people in it, is it really so bad to want to know, for sure, that what you are doing is kept to yourself and your personal information is not being taken by someone randomly sniffing your network traffic? Are there people using it for things that are despicable and illegal? Without question they are, and I hope those people can be found and brought to book for what they're doing; however, stripping the rights of everyone to catch a small percentage of people is not the way to go about it.

Some people use cars to drive drunk and/or kill people, should all people be forced to give up their cars? No, but there are some people who absolutely should never be near them. Hyperbole, yes, but the point stands. You can't strip the privacy away from everyone, and snoop on what everyone is doing just because some people use the internet for nefarious things. That's not how rights work and that's not how governments should be handling things.

What gets me is that anything bad that happens, a lot of other people have to pay the cost. These sickos need to be stopped but it seems the only option is remove privacy/security for everyone else. The downside to those social media platforms being as large as they are, and another reason I loathe a centralized internet approach, is that there's simply too much content and too much going on for there to be effective moderation. Some of it gets caught, and that's fantastic, but unless more average users are willing to step in and report each and every piece of objectionable material they come across, it's never going to end. Exploiting children for purposes like that is the lowest of the low and I hope there's a day when it is completely eradicated from the world as a whole. That said, I absolutely do not want that to come at the expense of privacy and security. That's why I object to this particular attempt to once again strip away the rights of the average person online, even if the cause they are trying to push is one worth going after, this is not the method to make that happen. The cost is too high.

Exactly right. Give them an inch they will take a mile.

Yes it does, but this the mindset that cannot be taken. It's deplorable what they do, but stripping basic rights from everyone to get a small percentage of people is not the right approach.

(Sorry for diverting once again! Back to the virus discussion!)

I saw a lady wearing what appeared to be a respirator used for painting today. Looked like one of these minus the detachable filters.

In my professional opinion, she's an idiot. That is all.
